On July 28, 2006 a successful cocktail party was held to celebrate
the opening of the Royale Thai, with the honoured presence of Mr.
Radike Qereqeretabua, C.E.O. of Shangri-La Resort, as Master
of Ceremonies (seen here on the left, together with Chef Jira,
Robert Singh and Melinda Marriott).

A New Chapter...
Robert and Melinda decided to take the Royale Thai brand name to Suva and the
Royale Thai restaurant has opened an outlet in the MHCC Foodcourt in Suva.
The Royale Thai project started at the end of 2005 when Robert Singh
and Melinda Marriott, who own the popular Bounty Restaurant, decided
to offer Fiji residents and visitors the opportunity of enjoying
a first class restaurant which is new and unique for Nadi.
It took many months and the contributions
of many people for everything to be completed and operational.
Swiss Chef Hans Kehrli was in charge of setting up the dining
room and the kitchen. He spent one month in Bangkok studying the
best Thai dishes which could suit the Fijian and international
market. Hans selected the restaurant fittings, and he brought
the internationally awarded Thai Chef Jira to create the Royale
Thai menu.
Italian graphic designer Claudio Borgioli
created the restaurant logo, sign, menu layout and this website,
while several local construction companies were hired for the
hard work needed in order to completely renovate the premises,
the plumbing and electrical installations.
